| Why is copper grain direction important? |
| Rolled-annealed (RA) copper has the maximum elongation in the grain direction. This gives the maximum flex life in a dynamic application, or allows the tightest possible bend radius in a static application without cracking the traces. Hence designers should specify the copper grain direction in their fabrication print. A flex circuit fabricator will then orient the parts on a panel such that the circuits have the correct grain direction. |
